Online Business Marketing – The 3 Dirty Secrets

Online Business Marketing can be very complicated. Let’s go through 3 secrets to make it easier.

Hi I’m Anthony and here at Carfile Systems, we concentrate on providing services to enhance small businesses with online business success

When setting up a business, in a previous video of mine, I discussed the importance of knowing who you want to serve, where they might be gathering and then where you would like to take them (meaning the end result you wish to give your customer). Knowing these is important before you even start building your business.

A common misconception is that old saying of ‘if you build it,  they will come’ – I must point out that this is NOT true when it comes to customers.

Yes, you or your product might be able to offer a great deal of value, but it does not mean that it will grab people’s attention, sell them on the benefits and convince them to buy.

Let’s go through 3 secrets that you can use.

With so many distractions and requirements for your customer’s attention, it is important to consider creative ways to stand out amongst the crowd.

How can you stop someone from scrolling through social media or when searching on google. Unless you are able to grab their attention first, you are unable to showcase anything. This is the first secret.

There are a few things you can consider when coming up with attention grabbers and a main factor is, where is the customer on the awareness scale?

What I mean by this is how aware the customer is about their problem (problem-aware), the solution to this (solution-aware) and finally, the products available to solve it (product-aware).

Looking at problem-aware, the customer simply may not know they have a problem and that they need your product.

This would mean that whatever attention grabbing headline or imagery you choose, would have to highlight the problem and should not focus on the solution or the product just yet.

Looking at Solution-aware, the customer may be aware of the problem, but not know potential solutions for this.

So your attention grabber does not need to educate your potential customer on the problem, but merely present a solution to that and then onto your product.

Finally, looking at product-aware, the customer is aware of the problem and aware of potential solutions, but they may just not be ready to purchase right now or not entirely convinced yet.

Your attention grabber can then focus on how your product differs to others.

Sometimes however, the attention grabber alone may not be sufficient to convince the individual to continue – which is where the 2nd secret comes to help and that is, the power of stories…

Stories can be used to help break down common misconceptions that the customer has and aim to convince them to take up your offer.

I don’t simply mean any old story, but the story of your interaction before you had the product and how the product has changed your life, once you had it.

Including real examples that demonstrate the positives the product has provided, the customer can get a full picture and can come to their own realisation of the benefits of it.

You can then transition to showcasing your offer.

I use the term offer rather than product, because it is also important to really make what you wish to sell an offer. What transforms a product into an offer is added value, is the 3rd secret.

To give you a little example, say if you had two identical products. One that comes as is, but the other has added benefits.

These benefits could be physical or digital, but they enhance the main product and provide the customer with a ton of added value.

Consider additions that will speed up, enhance or make what the first product does, easier. This is what transforms your simple product into an offer.

So to recap, with online business marketing, the first secret is to consider the attention grabber and where that customer is on the awareness scale.

The second secret is to use relatable stories about your own personal transformation that your product provided. This will allow others to naturally see how it can benefit them.

The 3rd secret is to ensure that your product is enhanced into an offer, by included added value.

These might be the 3 secrets, but if you are looking to find out your no.1 mistake when it comes to online business ideas, I have designed a free quiz.

This quiz takes into consideration your situation and can provide you with a tailored outcome and a plan to overcome it.
